4chan needs to be censored, monitored or shutdown altogether
The website 4chan .org is one of the most disgusting and dangerous sites on the internet today. It is websites like 4chan that push many people to consider government intervention on the internet in the form of tougher regulations.
On 4chan you will find disgusting pornographic images, some of which border on child porn as well as disturbing racism and sexism. But why 4chan needs to be at the very least censored and monitored and possibly shutdown completely is the fact that they have the ability to influence the news with salacious lies and even cause national security problems.
4chan first came to the attention of most of the public after it was found that they had started the Justin Bieber syphilis story by asking the people that visit the site to Google "Justin Bieber has syphilis" until it reached number one on Google Trends. It Justin Bieber has been a favorite target of 4chan
did reach number one and many news sites and blogs ran with the story. 4chan has also just recently been accused of flooding Justin Bieber's fan site with its visitors in order to influence a survey on Bieber's tour page, which invites fans to suggest which countries the 16-year-old should visit. The overwhelming leading country right now is North Korea thanks to 4chan.org.
The first case is highly irresponsible, defaming and should be illegal, while the second one is just plain juvenile and annoying. But what 4chan has just recently been accused of is something the federal government should look into and if it turns out to be true they should come down on 4chan with all it's power.
Over the July 4th weekend there was a JFK airport bomb scare. There is evidence that the whole scare was caused by posters on 4chan. Here is what was posted on another message board about 4chan with a link leading back to the original 4chan post that is no longer live on the site.
"JFK airport recently had a bomb scare but this time it isnt a PsyOP. Here is what happened.
- Girl said she was gonna show her boobs on 4Chan if they made her laugh and all that and then she didn’t do it
-4chan got all her info including parents and found out that she has a flight to Africa in a few days
-They call the feds or Homeland Security to say that she has a bomb and drugs on her
While it is very difficult to prove one way or another if 4chan was indeed responsible for this and there are some inconsistencies with the story, the federal government needs to start investigating this site before things really get out of hand. 4chan is a disease and a scourge on the internet and they will only continue to up the ante with their pranks, which at some point, at the rate they are going, could possibly lead to someone getting seriously hurt or worse. 4chan claims that they have free speech rights but you can't shout fire in a crowded theater which is just about what they did this last time. The also claim to be everything the internet is supposed to be about. The truth is 4chan is completely antithetical to everything the internet was meant to be. The internet was meant to a medium that allowed for the advancement of society by expressing intelligent, rational and thought provoking ideas across the world. There is nothing intelligent about what 4chan does.
